SCARECROW CONTEST

Event Date: October 1-31

 

Registration: Through September 30, 2024 (or until all poles are assigned)

 

Categories:

 

• Judges will choose 1st Place, 2nd Place, and People's Choice. 

• The People's Choice will be based on public votes. (There will be several places throughout town to cast votes for your favorite scarecrow) 

 

Rules:

 

1. This is a family-friendly event. Scarecrows can be humorous, lovable, whimsical, but not frightening or distasteful. We have the right to reject all scarecrows that we deem offensive or inappropriate. 

2. Scarecrows will be mounted to a designated lamp post in both Flopeye and Downtown. Location numbers will be assigned at registration, on a first come first served basis. 

3. Installations will take place beginning Tuesday, September 16, 2024, and must be completed by Tuesday, October 1, 2024, if not your pole will be given to the next in line, they will have 5 days to get the scarecrow up. 

4. Material must be firmly attached to the scarecrow so that it can withstand the sun, wind, and rain. Scarecrows must be secured by zip ties or string. (NO metal or wire allowed on any downtown fixture.) 

5. All entries must have a weatherproof sign to identify the entry. Group/ Business name, NO Advertising or political statements allowed. 

6. All entry pictures will be posted on the Great Falls Home Town Association website (visitgreatfallssc.com) and Facebook Page to help with voting. 

7. Voting: Anyone can vote! Vote in participating businesses , Town Hall and other designated places. Participating businesses/locations will be posted online. Voting will begin October 1, 2024 and continue until October 16, 2024, at Noon. Please no voting after Oct. 16 at Noon. 

8. Winners will be announced at the Pop Up Market on Thursday, October 17 , 2024. 

9. STRICT RULE: all entries will be removed by November 1, 2024. Entries not removed by this date will be taken down and disposed of. 

10. Required: We will require you to check on your scarecrow periodically to make sure it remains in presentable condition.
